Vascular Assessments

Doppler Studies

Listening to your circulation

Ultrasound technology listens to and evaluates blood flow through the arteries and veins of your legs — identifying circulatory problems contributing to wound healing difficulties.

ABPI Test

Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index

Compares blood pressure at the ankle with the arm to detect peripheral artery disease (PAD) and assess blood flow to the lower limbs — critical before applying compression therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. It is completely non-invasive and painless. A standard blood pressure cuff and Doppler probe are used on your ankle and arm. The test takes approximately 15–30 minutes.

Compression therapy is contraindicated (dangerous) in patients with poor arterial blood flow. A Doppler/ABPI assessment confirms it is safe to apply compression before we proceed.

Many medical aid schemes cover vascular assessments, especially when linked to wound care or chronic disease management. Contact us to assist with pre-authorisation.

Wear comfortable, loose clothing for easy access to your lower limbs. No fasting is required. Bring a list of current medications and any relevant referral letters.
